Streamlining Worksite Communication for Hutchison Builder's

“The great thing was that it was really, really, really easy to use.”

Shaun Spooner

Hutchison Builders is leading a multi-million dollar refurbishment of the Queensland Parliamentary Annexe, including modernizing offices on levels 9 to 24, and a complete external facade replacement. The project aims to enhance accommodation for MP's and update the building's exterior.

Shaun Spooner’s job site was the definition of controlled chaos. It was a bustling location where everyone was time-poor , every job was fast-paced, and access was at an absolute premium. All that, as well as a crane that required pre-booking.

Shane needed a solution fast.

So he came to Veyor, looking for a speedy but comprehensive solution. We brought order to the work site seamlessly and effortlessly, combining our advanced solutions and answering all his requirements. This shift has not only streamlined operations but also transformed the way everyone works.

“From the moment the tower crane went up, we really needed a platform to communicate with our contractors." - Shaun Spooner, Site Manager

Keeping everyone on the same page

In construction, things are always moving, and keeping up is almost impossible. But Shane found that Veyor served as something of an always-updating live document that gave all parties a run-down of what was happening on any particular day. Everyone from the crane operator down knew what would be arriving when, thanks to Veyor’s best-in-class tools that make communication easy. This newfound communication changed the way that people work significantly. Suddenly, deliveries were on time, drop-off moved faster and everyone was talking!

A central hub, made simple

This ease of communication really sold Shaun and his team on Veyor. By having a central hub that everyone had access to, Shaun no longer fielded 100s of phone calls during the day.Instead, Veyor acted as the “bible” for the day’s proceedings, telling all the workers what would be happening and when. Suddenly, a disorganised work site was running like clockwork! All thanks to a little app.

Control traffic, control the site

Shaun needed accountability from their contractors and suppliers. So with Veyor, Shaun could get the relevant parties to make their bookings – and once they had done so, they were responsible for ensuring they were on time. With Veyor’s Traffic Control feature, Shaun and his team can even log when the delivery turns up, which allows them to see which contractors are regularly late and which are on time. It’s a sophisticated new way to reduce congestion and improve worksite flow.

Making the shift

Shaun valued Veyor’s simplicity and efficiency. If there were weather or breakdowns, he could push deliveries and communicate any sudden changes immediately – no phone call required. All he had to do was use the “Bulk Shift” feature. With just a couple of clicks, he could reschedule every delivery and action affected by the weather event, saving him the hassle of having to make phone call after phone call.

Tomorrow’s solution, today

Shaun and his experiences show that Veyor is the way of the future for simplifying deliveries on a construction site. The software has been such a help to him that he’s already started recommending Veyor to other site managers. The team is also already considering using the software for their next projects.
